Crock Pot Goals

It’s only the first full week of classes and I already feel like it’s been a month at least. I am constantly on the go from Monday through Thursday between work, class, and extracurriculars/projects. The overwhelming time commitments of college kids, including myself, usually persuades us to pick up fast food and scarf it down while we’re getting from point A to point B. It’s natural and sometimes we just can’t prevent it. However, I have been decreasing the urge to do this by using my lovely crock pot. Yesterday morning I took out a pack of boneless and skinless chicken thighs to thaw in the fridge while I was gone. I returned home around 7 p.m. and put the chicken in the crock pot. I added 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and chopped green pepper with onion. I added salt, pepper, chicken seasoning blend and put the top on it. I let it all cook on low from about 8 p.m. to 6:45 the next morning. The chicken was incredibly tender and the aroma filled my house pleasantly. It was on my mind the whole time I was at work, and as tempted as I was to stop at Wendy’s and pick up my go-to meal (value fry and a crispy chicken sandwich with pickle), I refrained and kept straight home. The only thing I had to do was make some rice, which only took about 10mins. and I had a hot wholesome meal for lunch and also dinner later on that evening. There are all types of easy crock pot recipes that are life savers for someone with a busy schedule. You can even cook desserts in the crock pot, which is perfect for me because I have a huge sweet tooth.

Making meals using a crock pot not only saves money, but it can also help you to reach a goal that you may have concerning cutting out fast food, or weight loss, etc. It could just help you to feel better because you know exactly what you’re eating, instead of praying that you’re eating real meat/eggs.

Whatever the case may be, I think it can really help a lot of us out.
